DataGlance Completes eDocument Implementation at One of the Largest U.S. Defense Contractors

DataGlance, a provider of AI-enhanced enterprise asset management software to the Nuclear and Defense Industries, announced that its eDocument dynamic instruction and electronic document revision management solution is now in production use at one of the largest U.S. Defense contractors, driving the construction, overhaul, and decommissioning of critical assets for the U.S. military. The solution is actively guiding engineering and planning personnel and frontline technicians through complex, high-consequence work – replacing manual, paper-based processes with a digital system built for the standards this work demands.
eDocument is DataGlance’s suite of dynamic instruction and electronic document management solutions, comprising three integrated modules:
- eInstruction, which enables engineering and planning personnel to create human-factored, computer-based dynamic work instructions executed by field personnel on mobile tablet devices;
- eRevision, an electronic document management and revision control system supporting version control, on-the-spot change processes, and document review and approval workflows that meet ANSI document change management requirements; and
- ePerform, a procedure-based electronic work package solution that converts procedure-driven work into a fully mobile, guided execution process.
Together, these three modules provide an end-to-end digital solution spanning instruction creation, document control, and field execution.
The implemented solution supports the customer’s engineering and planning personnel in developing structured, data-collecting digital work instructions that guide field workers through complex construction, overhaul, and decommissioning activities. These instructions can be augmented with supporting documents, drawings, technical manuals, and image, audio, and video media, with all execution data captured and made available to authorized personnel and connected systems. The solution is designed to reduce administrative burden, minimize error-prone manual processes, and improve the consistency and traceability of work performed on assets critical to national defense.
“Few organizations understand the discipline required to construct, overhaul, and responsibly decommission military assets quite like the engineers and technicians we supported through this implementation. Our team’s direct experience serving within the U.S. military gave us a working understanding of the standards this work demands, long before we wrote a line of software code or performed the first configuration. Completing this implementation is a meaningful milestone, and we are proud of what it represents for the men and women who build and maintain the fleet that defends this country.”
— Nathan Ives, Executive Vice President, DataGlance, USNA Class of 1992
DataGlance’s ability to understand and deliver this solution is rooted directly in its senior leadership’s U.S. Navy service. Nathan Ives, DataGlance Executive Vice President, is a 1992 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and served as a nuclear engineer qualified officer aboard a U.S. Navy fast attack submarine. Russell Austin, DataGlance Director of Business Programs, served for 20 years aboard several U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and within their supporting shipyards. That firsthand operational and shipyard experience is further reinforced by a DataGlance technology team that has spent the past 25 years developing award-winning digital solutions for the commercial nuclear electric generation industry – a combination of military and commercial nuclear expertise that DataGlance believes is unique among providers serving the defense sector.
DataGlance views the completion of this implementation as a significant step in extending its Nuclear Industry digital solutions to the Defense Industry and anticipates the experience gained will inform future engagements supporting the construction, repair, and sustainment of military assets.
