DataGlance, Inc. (DataGlance), a leading provider of enterprise asset management and dynamic instructions (DI) solutions for the commercial nuclear, and defense sectors, today announced the successful production go-live of its eDocument Dynamic Instructions and Digital Document Revision Management solution at a U.S. Department of War laboratory. The go-live marks the culmination of a multi-phase implementation supporting the design, testing, and operational deployment of dynamic, human-factored work instructions across the laboratory’s engineering and field organizations.

eDocument is DataGlance’s suite of dynamic instruction and electronic document management solutions, comprising three integrated modules:

  • eInstruction, which enables engineering and planning personnel to create human-factored, computer-based dynamic work instructions executed by field personnel on mobile tablet devices;
  • eRevision, an electronic document management and revision control system supporting version control, on-the-spot change processes, and document review and approval workflows that meet ANSI document change management requirements; and
  • ePerform, a procedure-based electronic work package solution that converts procedure-driven work into a fully mobile, guided execution process.

Together, these three modules provide an end-to-end digital solution spanning instruction creation, document control, and field execution.

The eInstruction Dynamic Instructions solution enables laboratory personnel to build and execute guided, if/then/else logic-based digital procedures on desktop and mobile tablet devices, with real-time system data feeds, continuous job status visibility, and both connected and disconnected operation in the field. The solution integrates documents, drawings, and multimedia work products directly into the digital work instruction, giving technicians and engineers a single, authoritative source for procedure execution and data capture.

“Reaching production go-live at a U.S. Department of War laboratory is a proud moment for our entire team. It reflects the trust the U.S. Department of War placed in our people and our platform, and it reflects the exceptional caliber of nuclear operations experience that DataGlance brings to this mission.”

— Ashok Shetty, President & CEO, DataGlance

The design of the solution’s dynamic instruction framework drew heavily on the military and commercial operational and regulatory backgrounds of key DataGlance leaders: Nathan Ives, Executive Vice President, and Russ Austin, Director of Business Programs. Nathan Ives is a former U.S. Navy nuclear submarine officer and NRC-licensed Senior Reactor Operator whose career includes procedure development and revision management responsibilities in both military and commercial nuclear operations. Russ Austin brought complementary military and commercial nuclear operations and procedure development experience to the effort. Together, their firsthand understanding of how procedures are written, revised, validated, and used at the point of work directly shaped the human-factored design of the dynamic instruction workflows delivered to the laboratory.

Beyond this project team, the broader DataGlance technology organization brings deep commercial nuclear industry experience to every solution it builds. That experience — spanning plant operations, maintenance, work management, and technology implementation — informed the development of the eDocument platform’s underlying architecture and its application to the laboratory’s unique operating environment.

“This project was personal for Russ and me. We have both served in the United States Navy with a procedure in hand, and our solution design input reflected the way we would have wanted it built when we were the ones executing the work. Seeing it go live in support of the U.S. Department of War’s mission, and the men and women who carry it out, is exactly why we do this work.”

— Nathan Ives, Executive Vice President, DataGlance

DataGlance takes particular pride in supporting the U.S. Department of War and the service members and civilian personnel who work every day to keep the nation free and secure. The company views its work at Department of War facilities as an extension of the same mission focus and technical rigor that its team members brought to their own military and commercial nuclear careers.
