DataGlance Begins Implementation of ePlanning AI-Assisted Work Planning Solution at U.S. Nuclear Power Plant

June 18, 2026/in News

DataGlance, ePlanning, AI-Assisted Work Planning, Corrective Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance

DataGlance, a provider of AI-enhanced enterprise asset management software to the Nuclear and Defense industries, today announced the implementation kickoff of its ePlanning generative AI-assisted work planning solution at a commercial nuclear power plant in the United States. The implementation marks the first commercial deployment of ePlanning, which DataGlance developed in partnership with Nuclearn, a provider of generative AI technology purpose-built for the nuclear industry.

ePlanning is an AI-assisted work planning solution that supports the development of corrective maintenance work packages for online and outage activities. The solution combines DataGlance’s user interface, configurable workflows, and enterprise system integrations with Nuclearn’s nuclear-specific generative AI engine to create task lists, automatically assign labor, parts, tools, permits, and other work required resources while enforcing consistent work order content and formatting standards – drawing on the decades of historic work performance data unique to each facility. The solution continuously improves through a generative AI model that learns from planner adjustments and technician feedback throughout the work planning and execution processes.

Nuclear utility leaders and planners participating in ePlanning’s design have identified corrective maintenance work order planning as one of the most time- and labor-intensive functions within nuclear maintenance work management. ePlanning is targeted to reduce corrective maintenance work package planning time by up to 50 percent while driving near 100 percent planning consistency through enforced work order content and formatting standards – improvements expected to free planning staff to focus on higher-value technical judgment rather than administrative research and formatting, while improving work execution safety, accuracy, and efficiency.

“Work planning is one of the most consequential functions in nuclear maintenance – it shapes safety, schedule, and cost outcomes long before a technician ever picks up a tool. ePlanning was designed from the outset around how planners actually think and work, and it has been refined through direct collaboration with utility leaders and planners at two nuclear utilities who brought their frontline experience to its design. Beginning implementation at our first host site is a significant milestone, and we are grateful to our utility partners and Nuclearn for their shared commitment that brought ePlanning from concept to deployment.”

— Nathan A. Ives, Executive Vice President, DataGlance

DataGlance’s role in the partnership encompasses the ePlanning user interface, configurable workflows, and the software interfaces connecting ePlanning to a utility’s enterprise asset management, document management, and work management systems. Nuclearn provides the underlying generative AI engine that powers ePlanning’s task generation, resource assignment, and continuous model improvement. The implementation now underway includes solution configuration, system integration, and a multi-month refinement period intended to accelerate the host utility’s effective use of the solution following go-live.

ePlanning’s functional design originated with Nathan Ives, DataGlance Executive Vice President and former USNRC licensed senior reactor operator, who conceived the solution’s initial work planning workflow, automated resource assignment approach, and continuous improvement model based on decades of combined nuclear operations and enterprise software design experience. That initial design was then refined collaboratively with input from utility leaders and planners at two nuclear utilities, ensuring the solution reflects the realities of day-to-day planning work across different organizational processes and business rules. DataGlance and Nuclearn have additionally committed direct executive involvement throughout the implementation and refinement period to support the host utility’s successful adoption of the solution.

DataGlance expects the current implementation to serve as a model for future ePlanning deployments across the nuclear industry, as utilities increasingly seek to apply generative AI to reduce administrative burden on planning staff while improving work package quality and consistency.
